Do’s and Dont’s for your Sauna Experience

Do’s:

  1. Hydrate Before and After
Water, water, water! Drink it like you’re a cactus in the desert.
  2. Limit Time
Keep your sauna session under 15-20 minutes. If you feel like you’re cooking like a lobster, it’s time to get out.
  3. Take a Shower
Clean up first, Everyone likes a fresh start!
  4. Use a Towel
The sauna is not a “sit on bare wood and hope for the best” zone. Towel up for hygiene and comfort, and to save us some cleaning time.
  5. Relax and Breathe
Deep breaths, like you’re trying to meditate your way into a state of ultimate relaxation. Inhale peace, exhale stress…
  6. Listen to Your Body
If your body starts telling you, “Hey, maybe you should leave/stop,” listen.
  7. Use the Sauna Alone or with Close Friends
    Keep the sauna calm.
  8. Cool Down Gradually
This is more advice than a rule – we offer a cold plunge experience, however, due to facilities we are unable to get those icy water temps.
  9. Consult a Doctor if You Have Health Issues
If you have health problems, check with a doctor before going into the sauna. It’s better to be safe than sizzling.

Don’t’s:

  1. Don’t Drink Alcohol Before or During Sauna Use
No “sauna cocktails”! Alcohol makes you feel like a hot mess in a hot room. Please stick to water.
  2. Don’t Stay Too Long
You’re not trying to break any sauna records. Keep it short, and sweet and have multiple shorter sessions.
  3. Don’t Use the Sauna After a Heavy Meal
After a feast, the sauna is not your digestive assistant. Don’t let your body multitask by trying to digest a burger and survive the heat.
  4. Don’t Overexert Yourself
The sauna is not the place for squats or burpees. Take it easy!
  5. Don’t Enter the Sauna If You Are Sick
If you’re feeling under the weather, the sauna is not your personal spa of rejuvenation. Just stay home, sip tea, and binge-watch Netflix.
  6. Don’t Use the Sauna When Pregnant Without Consultation
Heat + baby = potential problems. Consult with your doctor before sweating it out with your little one on board.
  7. Don’t Bring Electronics
If you bring your phone in, it will overheated! Leave the tech behind.
  8. Don’t Use Scented Oils Without Permission
Unless you’re in a fancy “aromatherapy” sauna, don’t be the person who turns the whole sauna into a lavender bomb. Some places have rules, so please be respectful!
  9. Don’t Be Noisy or Disturb Others
It’s a sauna, not a party! Keep the chatter quite and respectful.
